Postdoctoral Fellowship: UBC, Health Sciences Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE)

EXPLAIN-yCRC is a project funded by Canadian Institute of Health Research that is led by Dr. Mary De Vera. The project involves linkage of British Columbia’s rich data resources including a population-based cancer registry and administrative health databases on outpatient visits, hospitalizations, vital statistics, and all prescriptions to conduct epidemiologic, health services research, and health economic studies to generate urgently needed knowledge on the growing problem of young-onset colorectal cancer (yCRC).

The EXPLAIN-yCRC team is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow for a 2-year term to conduct Health Services Research components of the project which include:
 Characterizing the treatment of yCRC in terms of patterns and determinants
 Estimating health care costs associated with yCRC
Applicants must have:
 A PhD in epidemiology, health services research, health economics, health policy, or a related discipline;
 Demonstrated scientific productivity in terms of published manuscripts and conference abstracts;
 Experience with analyzing of large databases (preferably using SAS);
 A desire to take on leadership responsibilities by leading the development of specific research initiatives within the scope of the broader project.

The Fellow will be primarily appointed at UBC’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences (https://pharmsci.ubc.ca) with the Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (https://core.ubc.ca/). This Fellowship will enable leadership opportunities for the right candidate, and may allow for the development of new research methods and techniques related to the project to be spearheaded by the Fellow. In addition, the Fellow will have a unique opportunity to be mentored by, and collaborate with, leading researchers and healthcare providers at the University of British Columbia and research team members across Canada. This position is best suited to an individual who can work independently and as part of a team, and provide supervision and/or mentorship to research trainees.
