CCO: Clinical Project Lead, Toxicity Management
Call for Expressions of Interest
ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITMENT: .5 day/week
TERM: 2 years plus 1 year optional

POSITION SUMMARY Cancer Care Ontario is seeking expressions of interest from clinical leaders for the position of Clinical Project Lead, Toxicity Management. The focus of the toxicity management project is improve toxicity management for patients on active treatment by improving patient access to tailored support, tools and education This is a unique opportunity to provide strategic leadership as we work to drive quality, accountability, coordination and innovation in the cancer system. The scope of this role is to provide clinical guidance and advise on strategies to improve appropriate management of cancer patients with treatment-related toxicity and therefore improve patient outcomes and experience.
ACCOUNTABILITIES The key responsibilities of this position include the following:
Actively champion and provide strong, visionary clinical leadership for the toxicity management project
Chair a multi-disciplinary steering committee which includes administrative and clinician representatives from CCO and the Regional Cancer Programs
Provide clinical expertise for the project design and execution that is evidence-based, data-driven, and leverages proven quality improvement methods
Encourage broad stakeholder support, including collaborating with experts in fields integral to toxicity management
Advocate and promote the goals and activities of the project as required across the province
Partner with the staff team and provide advice and support to them
QUALIFICATIONS
Practicing physician in Ontario, in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
In-depth knowledge of clinical, administrative and system-wide issues with respect to toxicity management in oncology
Clinical research on the model of care for toxicity management and treatment side effects would be an asset
Five to seven years’ experience in a professional leadership role
Proven track record of clinical leadership at the hospital and/or university level
Recognized as an opinion leader within the oncology community
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build consensus and work with and engage a diverse group of stakeholders
Enthusiasm for, commitment to, and experience with quality improvement
Experience using evidence and data to drive practice
Demonstrated commitment to person-centred care
