DIRECTOR, QUALITY STANDARDS
Improving the quality of Ontario’s health care system is a critical goal at Health Quality Ontario (HQO). If you are committed to improving the quality of health care through the development of evidence-informed standards and recommendations, this newly created role is designed to support this transformational mandate and positively impact Ontario’s health system. HQO is the provincial advisor on the quality of health care in Ontario, evaluating the effectiveness of health care technologies and services, providing evidence-based recommendations, reporting to the public on the quality of the health system, and supporting the spread of quality improvement throughout the system.
The Position
Reporting to the Vice President, Evidence Development and Standards, you will guide a high performing team through the process of developing quality standards that are aligned with HQO’s broader mandate, as defined in the Excellent Care for All Act. As this is a new program of work, you will be able to contribute to shaping its direction and key objectives. With an opportunity to facilitate collective action towards a common set of goals, you will help to provide the vision and leadership that will have the capacity to influence system-level quality improvements.
Key leadership initiatives for the new Director, Quality Standards will be to:
- Contribute to developing the vision and key deliverables for the new Quality Standards program at HQO.
- Partner with HQO colleagues to support implementation efforts in the development of standards and the selection of related indicators.
- Develop a process for the selection of standards that is transparent, inclusive and efficient.
- Oversee the selection of clinical best practices for selected Quality-Based Procedures.
Experience
The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in health administration, health policy, or related health discipline, with at least 5 to 7 years of leadership and progressive management experience in a complex health system organization in one of the following areas: strategy and health care planning, system planning, health policy, or health care service delivery. Clinical experience would be an asset.
