New Release: Canadian Cancer Statistics: A 2022 special report on cancer prevalence
Developed in collaboration with the Canadian Cancer Society, Statistics Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada, with data provided by provincial and territorial cancer registries and analyses completed by Statistics Canada and the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, this publication provides estimates of cancer prevalence by cancer type, sex, age, geographic region, duration, neighbourhood income and urban and rural status for adults and by cancer type for childhood cancers.
Estimates of cancer prevalence provide foundational information of the impact of cancer in Canada, in particular on health services. For example, it shows that at the beginning of 2018, over 1.5 million people in Canada were living with or beyond a cancer diagnosis and that cancer prevalence is rising.
