Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and undertake health economic analyses of health care interventions using various methods such as state-transition, microsimulation, and discrete event simulation models as well as regression analyses, as required
• Review literature, critically appraise the usefulness, relevance and limitations of data sources and ensure the appropriateness of analytical methods and accuracy of analyses in meeting the needs of the research questions under study
• Systematically review and critically appraise existing economic evaluations (model structure, model inputs, assumptions, and results)
• Design, conduct, and interpret observational studies including cohort, and cross-sectional studies based on health administrative data including proposing and executing a statistical analysis plan
• Liaise with other researchers, including clinicians, scientists/health economists, to develop research questions and manage research projects
• Prepare and communicate findings in the form of reports and peer-reviewed publications, rounds, and scientific conferences, as required
• Assist with grant/manuscript writing and submissions
• Support project of scientists/health economists to ensure project objectives are met
Basic Requirements:
• Postgraduate training (MSc. in relevant area, such as health economics, epidemiology, health services research, economics, or operations research)
• 2- 5 years’ experience in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated training/expertise in developing cohort, microsimulation, and/or discrete event simulation models
• Demonstrated expertise in costing and conducting full economic evaluations using above model types
• Experience and proficiency in building and evaluating health economic models in Microsoft Excel with Visual Basic for Applications and/or R
• Strong analytical abilities to manage and manipulate data using at least one statistical software program, such as SAS, STATA and R
• Experience conducting analyses of large administrative data and other retrospective data sources, including
development of study design, writing analysis plans, SAS programming to conduct the analysis, and reporting of the results
• Knowledge in the areas of Canada’s health care system, biostatistics, clinical research methods, and epidemiology
• Previous experience in protocol development, grant writing, manuscript writing, and making presentations to scientific audiences
• Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written formats for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Proven self-starter
• Proven ability to work independently, take direction from various sources and prioritize workload with particular attention to detail
• Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task, work accurately and effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and remain composed in high-pressure situations
• Excellent computer skills, including word processing, presentation, Internet and spreadsheet, data management and data visualization skills
• Proficient in English
Contract Details:
This is a 2- year full-time position with possibility of renewal
Salary: min: $ 35.171/hr.- Max: $43.6763hr.
