Positions available with the Ontario Breast Screening Program at Cancer Care Ontario
The Cancer Screening Program is part of the Prevention and Cancer Control (P&CC) Portfolio at Cancer Care Ontario (CCO). P&CC brings together cancer prevention, screening, surveillance and research into a single organizational entity, while Cancer Screening focuses specifically on the delivery of Ontario’s three cancer screening programs: ColonCancerCheck (CCC), the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP), and the Ontario Cervical Screening Program (OCSP). There are four units that make up Cancer Screening:
- Program Design
- Implementation
- Operations
- Quality Management & Quality Management Partnership
PROGRAM DESIGN:
Within the Cancer Screening Program, the Program Design Unit provides a standard approach to designing all existing organized and emerging screening programs that moves evidence into action. The Unit coordinates intake and synthesis of new evidence to develop policy and guidelines that are consistent with current evidence and research. It also ensures that Cancer Screening Programs are continually evaluated through performance indicators and targets and that leading screening practices are widely adopted. Program design work is led in partnership with Clinical and Scientific leadership and includes evidence assessments, program design strategy and development, impact assessments and program planning.
Three positions are currently available with the Ontario Breast Screening Program:
Health Policy Lead-The Lead is an integral member of the Program Design team and plays a key role in ensuring that CCO achieves its screening-related objectives in the Ontario Cancer Plan and its annual commitments to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
The Lead will support the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) organized screening program and play a leadership role in the development of policies and program design enhancements. He/she will have a strong understanding of the use of evidence in policy development and program management. He/she will also play a key role supporting the provincial and regional Clinical and Scientific Leads. He/she will support multiple, complex projects using advanced critical and strategic thinking in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Sr. Health Policy Analyst-The Senior Analyst is an integral member of the Program Design team and plays a key leadership role in ensuring that CCO achieves its screening-related objectives in the Ontario Cancer Plan and its annual commitments to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Research Associate-The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) team within the Program Design Unit supports the development of high quality evidence products to inform policy development and program design. It determines activities to help improve effectiveness of screening interventions. The team also monitors for emerging breast cancer screening evidence and is familiar with practice in other jurisdictions.
